Engagement Wedding Photography – Sammi & Dan

Sammi & Dan’s Engagement Wedding Photography

When Sammi first asked me to be their Birmingham wedding photographer I was over the moon. These are two such lovely people and I can’t wait to help them tell their amazing story. Engagement wedding photography is so important and I was thrilled to hear they would like to add a shoot. The added bonus was they’d love to bring there dog. I always encourage pets as it really adds a new dimension to the images!

As we all live in the same town, we all agreed ‘Sutton Park’ would be the best location for their engagement wedding photography. I have also done many shoots in Sutton Park over the years and know it well. The time of year we had chosen for the shoot was one of my favourites.. Autumn! For me Birmingham wedding photography is about making the most of the surrounds and available light. For this reason I always encourage my clients to do the shoot around sunset, to get that gorgeous golden light!

The day had now finally arrived for Sammi & Dan’s engagement wedding photography. We were in for a real treat, although we didn’t know it at the time! It was a little overcast but the sun was peeking through every so often. We started off the session with some relaxed images of them walking with Gus (their adorable dog, who you’ll see in this post) Read on to find out how the rest of the shoot went.

Why Engagement Wedding Photography Shoots Are Important?

Nearly all of my couples I meet for engagement wedding photography shoots, have never had professional images before. When booking your Birmingham wedding photographer, I always recommend an engagement shoot and here are the reasons why. Firstly becoming comfortable with your wedding photographer is of the upmost importance. This can make or break when it comes to getting amazing images. Secondly learning some beautiful poses ahead of the wedding will make the day so much more fun and less stressful for you both. Having the confidence on your special day will really show in your final photographs.

As a Birmingham wedding photographer most of my shoots start in a similar way. In the beginning I like to give you some space to be yourselves and really enjoy the whole experience. The key to great wedding photography Birmingham is for you to be comfortable around me. I always love it when my clients see me as a friend of the family. If you’re relaxed and comfortable with me and the camera it really shows. Capturing your ever lasting memories is what I love to do and this should be such a fun and exciting time!

Sammi & Dan really knew what they wanted from their engagement wedding photography. I love it when people have an idea of what they want so I can add to it with my own creative ideas. These two really were naturals when it came to posing, which allowed me to really express myself creatively and look for unique compositions

Memorable Moments From Their Engagement Shoot

I mentioned earlier when we arrived the sun was intermittent. Well this was all about to change. I was just wrapping up the session as the sun had set. Then to all of our surprise the sky turned blood red! I ran to my bag and quickly began setting up some off camera lights to fully take advantage of the situation! Sammi & Dan decided on a quick wardrobe change and we were ready to create some amazing portraits!

I’ve only ever seen the sky like this a few times where I live. I don’t think I’ve ever been on location during a Birmingham wedding photography shoot when it’s been this spectacular! I’m so pleased with how the images came out, I do love to give my clients something unique with my engagement wedding photography. The challenge as a Birmingham wedding photographer is what I live for. A red sky is fleeting, you can get one chance to create something wonderful.

Finally Gus was such a personality, I ended up throwing all kinds of sticks and twigs to grab a quick shot of the lovely couple. In my Birmingham wedding photography, I’ll do whatever it takes to get my clients the best possible images!
