After 10 years of trying, I finally photographed the Aurora borealis!⚡️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This has been something I’ve wanted to see and capture for so long and it did not disappoint! I’ve been to Canada, Norway and Lapland to try and see it, however in the end, I saw it 90 minutes away from my home! ❤️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Massive props to my good pal @benharrisonphotography for the tip off and telling me an awesome location to shoot it from, you nailed it mate!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To set the scene, Ben called me around 12pm yesterday afternoon and gave me the heads up. He said we need to be there by 7/8pm, wrap up warm and bring your A game! After missing the last show in May, due to being fast asleep the night before a wedding, I wasn’t going to miss this! However when we arrived it was cloudy and not a lot was happening! I guess I had this vision the sky would be green with the Northern lights dancing around!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After an hour it still wasn’t doing much and we were getting cold! Ben said, I’ve had an update, let’s hold tight for another 30-45 mins, so we waited! Then at 9:45pm, the heavens exploded with colour! I don’t really know how to describe it, other than just awesome!! I was like a kid again on Christmas morning, pure joy and excitement! Reds and greens dancing in the sky, everything I’d hoped it would be and more!! Memories I’ll never forgot!

It was so good to be back at this incredible venue, my first time back in 2024 and I’ve missed it!!

Now let’s talk about the rain yesterday, we certainly had quite a lot of it! I was fully prepared with umbrellas and extra lights, plus lots of smoke flares! I’m always prepared for a plan b no matter what!! 💯

Luckily there was a small break in the afternoon, so we got out into the gorgeous grounds of the Tawny Hotel, which did not disappoint!
