Heather & Anthony

THE OLD LIBRARY BIRMINGHAM – HEATHER & ANTHONY

This wedding at the Old Library in Birmingham was my first one of 2020 and what a wedding it was! This was the last time I actually photographed a full day wedding with over 100 guests this year. Little did I know what was coming later in the year, on that fabulous winter’s day.

I have since only photographed a handful of weddings this year and really do miss doing what I love most. Being a part of your weddings and capturing moments for you! I really do hope 2021 brings more promise, as this has been a tough year for us all. I also hope looking through these photos reminds you that weddings will return along, with all that happiness they bring 🙂

Being Heather & Anthony’s Old Library Wedding Photographer

When Heather first got in touch, I was thrilled to be their Old Library wedding photographer. Having never worked at this quirky venue before, I was very excited to see it up close! As a UK wedding photographer, I love being able to allow my creativity to flow at such amazing venues as The Old Library.

Heather & Anthony’s January wedding was incredible and my first from my incredibly short 2020 season. They’re such lovely people and were a real pleasure to work with! As their Birmingham wedding photographer, I couldn’t have asked for a better couple.

I’m so excited for you to see all their Old Library wedding photos. From when I first arrived in the morning, right up until the dance, this wedding was quite simply unforgettable in so many ways! I do really hope you can get a feel of the emotion of the day through my images. For me, that is what Birmingham wedding photography is all about. I’d just like to take this opportunity to thank Heather & Antony for trusting me to document their special day.

How Heather & Anthony’s Wedding Photography Began!

I arrived at the ‘Highfield House’ nice and early as I always like to do. I was so thrilled to discover how incredible the bridal suite is. Large bay windows showering the room in such gorgeous light. Not to mention a rustic-looking bathtub, which does feature in a few images below! As a Birmingham wedding photographer, I am always looking for great light and a space that will inspire me. The Highfield really had that in droves and I am very happy with how the images came out 🙂

TIME TO HEAD OVER TO THE OLD LIBRARY!

Not long after Heather had gotten into her gown, I headed over to The Old Library to prepare for the ceremony. I always like to give myself some time to do this as it’s so very important to capture the venue. Also, this is a great time when guests are arriving, there are just so many beautiful candid moments unfolding! More often than not, family and friends haven’t seen each other in years so this is one big happy reunion!

SO WHY DO I LOVE MY JOB AS A BIRMINGHAM WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?

I truly do love my job as a Birmingham wedding photographer. I get to be a part of such precious times in my couples’ lives and at the same time do what I love. Each and every wedding is truly unique and different, and documenting the story is what I love to do the most! Every day I wake up feeling blessed that I get to call this my career!

How The Ceremony At The Old Library Unfolded

With everyone now seated and keenly awaiting the bride’s arrival, it was time for one of my favourite parts of the wedding to begin. The ceremony for me is just a magical time in the day, I absolutely adore photojournalism in my photography. This is the time of the day when I get to really focus on the very raw emotion. For most couples, this is the most heartfelt part of their wedding day and it’s such a privilege for me to document it!

As a Birmingham wedding photographer, capturing all the incredible moments that unfold during the ceremony, is of the utmost importance to me. It really suits my style of UK wedding photography, I just love capturing candid & natural moments! After your day is over these will be the moments that transcend time and live on through the coming generations. Reminding them just how special of a day it really was!

HOW THE REST OF THE DAY AT THE OLD LIBRARY UNFOLDED

With everyone’s spirits still flying high and the drinks flowing, this is the time I like to blend into the wedding party. I don’t like to stage much at this time of the day. It’s all about the honest story and capturing events as they unfold organically. When the time came to portraits, to my delight the weather was amazing all day. Which isn’t always a given at that time of year, so I was very pleased for Heather & Antony! The venue and surrounding areas are so incredible and diverse, I was really able to create some unique and creative photographs for them! If you’ve ever been to Digbeth in Birmingham, you will know exactly what I am talking about!

SPEECHES & SPECIAL MOMENTS AT THE OLD LIBRARY

Speeches are always one of the most fun times during a wedding. The very real stories & emotions surrounding this part of the day are infectious! Mainly why I love part of the day so much. As an Old Library wedding photographer, I love nothing more than the challenge of capturing these fleeting moments. Being able to witness and photograph this incredible time in my couple’s lives really is a privilege.

In my Birmingham wedding photography business, I really do pride myself on being able to anticipate when a moment is about to happen. Speeches are the perfect example of this. You really do have to think on your feet to make sure you don’t miss a trick! The speeches at Heather & Anthony’s were absolutely hilarious, I had to try and contain my own laughter at times, but that’s all part of the fun 🙂

SOMETHING TRULY UNIQUE

At every wedding, there is always something truly unique that happens. As a UK luxury wedding photographer, I’m always continually surprised and amazed by every wedding’s uniqueness. Amongst all the beautiful candid moments, something always stands out to me. At this Old Library wedding, I will never forget a few particular moments.

Firstly it was so nice to see so many familiar faces again, a few years back I had captured Anthony’s father’s wedding! So it was really special to see everyone again. When I capture someone’s big day, I quite often remain friends with them. When you go on a journey with your couple like this, it really does cement a lasting relationship! Another memorable moment would have to be Heather & Anthony’s never-ending laughter. These two were just hilarious and made my job so easy!
